Conference Background
Advanced ceramics—also known as high-performance ceramics, fine ceramics, or high-tech ceramics—are materials produced from high-purity, ultra-fine synthetic or carefully selected inorganic compounds. They exhibit exceptional mechanical, acoustic, optical, thermal, electrical, and biological properties. Thanks to their specific, refined microstructures, advanced ceramics offer a range of advantages—including high strength, high hardness, and resistance to wear, corrosion, and high temperatures, as well as excellent electrical insulation—making them widely applicable in fields such as chemicals, metallurgy, semiconductor integrated circuits, machinery, and biomedicine.

Ceramic bearings are mechanical bearings manufactured from advanced ceramic materials such as zirconia, silicon nitride, and silicon carbide. They are primarily categorized into two types: "full ceramic bearings," in which both the rings and rolling elements are made of ceramic, and "hybrid ceramic bearings," in which only the rolling elements are ceramic. Thanks to their exceptional properties—including high hardness, light weight, high-temperature resistance, electrical insulation, self-lubrication, and corrosion resistance—ceramic bearings are an ideal choice for applications demanding high rotational speeds, low friction, and long service life. For instance, using silicon nitride ceramic balls in the spindle bearings of industrial machine tools enhances rotational speed, precision, and durability, thereby driving the evolution of these machines toward higher speeds, greater precision, and increased efficiency. In humanoid robot dexterous hands and joint modules, they reduce joint friction while improving movement flexibility and load-bearing capacity. In new energy vehicles, they boost the performance of transmission and motor bearings, reduce energy consumption, and extend service life. In recent years, the rapid growth of emerging sectors such as new energy vehicles, wind power generation, and robotics has provided strong momentum for the expansion of the ceramic bearing industry.

Advanced ceramics play a vital role in the medical field. Materials such as alumina, zirconia, and silicon nitride are widely used in various medical devices and implants due to their excellent biocompatibility, exceptional strength, wear resistance, surface smoothness, and chemical stability. Applications include artificial joints and orthopedic implants (e.g., hip and knee joints, bone plates, and screws), dental restorative materials (e.g., crowns, bridges, and denture bases), dental tools (e.g., burs, grinding heads, and polishing instruments), high-hardness surgical instruments (e.g., scalpel blades, scissors, forceps, and probes), biomedical sensors and MEMS (e.g., biosensor substrates and protective layers), and components for high-temperature and high-frequency diagnostic equipment (e.g., parts for X-ray machines, microscopes, MRI systems, and ultrasound equipment). With the advancement of modern medical technology, the demand for high-quality advanced ceramics for medical implants continues to grow.
The manufacturing of advanced ceramic components requires high-quality raw materials and precision processing to meet rigorous product specifications. To foster communication across the advanced ceramics supply chain, Aibang Zhizao will host the Advanced Ceramics Industry Forum on August 27 at Hall 7 of the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. Focusing on sectors such as ceramic bearings and medical ceramics, we cordially invite industry professionals to participate.
