SOFC/SOEC Ceramics Industry Forum
2026 SOFC/SOEC Industry Forum
Invitation
August 28, 2026
Hall 7, Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center (Bao'an New Venue)
Conference Background
Against the backdrop of global warming, clean and sustainable energy has increasingly become a global focal point; the energy transition is accelerating, and the "dual carbon" goals are steadily advancing. Solid Oxide Cells (SOCs) have garnered widespread attention in recent years due to their high-efficiency, clean power generation capabilities in Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) mode and their excellent potential for hydrogen production and energy storage in Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC) mode, serving as a powerful driver for the transformation of my country's energy structure under the "dual carbon" strategy.

Figure: Operating principles of SOFCs and SOECs
Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) show great promise for applications in distributed power generation and combined heat and power (CHP) systems, owing to their all-solid-state structure, high energy conversion efficiency (with power generation efficiency reaching 45%–60%), broad fuel adaptability, and environmental friendliness. As the reverse process of SOFCs, Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOECs) can electrolyze water and carbon dioxide into hydrogen and carbon monoxide; they offer significant advantages—such as high energy conversion efficiency (85%–95%), high current density, robust stability, and the elimination of the need for noble metal catalysts—making them a highly efficient and clean technology for electrochemical energy conversion and storage.

The primary components of an SOFC include the electrolyte, anode, cathode, and interconnect materials. SOFCs utilize ceramic materials for the electrolyte. The commonly used Y₂O₃-stabilized ZrO₂ (YSZ) electrolyte material exhibits high ionic conductivity only at temperatures above 1,000°C; however, excessively high operating temperatures drive up operating costs, limit material selection, and compromise system stability. Lowering the operating temperature of the ceramic electrolyte can reduce both manufacturing and maintenance costs. Consequently, reducing the operating temperature has remained a central challenge in SOFC development; the primary pathways to achieving low-to-intermediate temperature SOFC applications involve developing electrolyte materials with higher conductivity and reducing the thickness of the electrolyte membrane.
To foster technical exchange across the industry supply chain, Aibang Zhizao will host the SOFC/SOEC Industry Forum on August 28, 2026, at Hall 7 of the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center. We sincerely invite industry professionals to attend and engage in discussions.
