Multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) represent the largest application, consuming 72.6% of the total output; with an estimated annual production of 4.5 trillion MLCC units, 49,700 tons of ceramic material are required. Positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistors account for a 15.2% market share, consuming approximately 10,400 tons of material annually. Other applications—including piezoelectric sensors, sonar equipment, and optical modulators—make up the remaining 12.2% of the market.
